48 Hour Activity Guide for the Gold Coast

When visiting the Gold Coast, you ideally want at least a few days to enjoy it. There’s so much to see and do, and the golden sand beaches, warm waters, and blue skies are just screaming for a few days relaxation at the beach or pool. But sometimes, a luxury week of tanning, swimming and sightseeing is out of reach.

For this stay, we have based you in the Meriton Serviced Apartments Broadbeach, which boasts two high-rise towers in the heart of beautiful Broadbeach. The 405 apartments comprise of studio, one, two and three bedroom configurations, and offer wonderful facilities including both an indoor and outdoor pool. When staying at Broadbeach Meriton you are located just metres from Jupiters Casino, Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, and the vibrant cafes and restaurants of Broadbeach.

Day 1

9am – 10am Breakfast at Black Coffee Lyrics

Black Coffee Lyrics is a must-try breakfast venue, serving up delicious coffee and even more delicious food. The menu is exciting, packed with delights such as bircher muesli and breaky rolls with creamy basil sauce, the service is great and the atmosphere buzzing. The perfect way to wake up your day.

10am – 1pm Tamborine Mountain

Located 45 minutes from Surfers Paradise, the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk is one of the Gold Coast’s most treasured activities. The one and a half kilometre rainforest walking experience includes 300 metres of high-tech steel bridges through the highest points of the upper rainforest canopy, as well a 40 metre cantilever bridge that soars a breathtaking 30 metres above the creek and rainforest below. At the Skywalk Centre, you’ll find an information centre, rainforest eco gallery, and an interesting gift and souvenir shop.

1pm – 2pm Lunchtime

After your incredible walk over and through the rainforest, you’ll no doubt be feeling peckish. The nearby Gallery Walk is home to some great wine cellar doors, cafes, and restaurants. Cafe Bravo serves up a good range of light lunches, and the Fortitude Brewing Co is a great place for sampling a range of fresh meats and seafood while enjoying a quality craft beer.

2pm – 4pm Shopping

As well as having delicious food and drinks, Gallery Walk is a shoppers paradise, boasting over 60 art, craft, gift and knick-knack stores. Spend a couple of hours wandering through the stores to find the perfect souvenirs to take home.

4pm – 6pm Swim

Now back in the comfort of your room at Meriton Serviced Apartments, enjoy a relaxing cuppa on the balcony before refreshing yourself in the resort-style pool. With plenty of sun lounges for guests to enjoy, you can even catch a few rays before heading back to your spacious apartment to change for the evening.

6pm – 7.30pm Beachfront markets

On Wednesday, Friday and Sunday night in nearby Surfers Paradise, the beachfront comes alive with treasure hunters, bargain spotters, and pre-dinner walkers. All you have to do is hop on a tram and head to the famous strip for the Beachfront Markets. Look for an unusual gift or one-off piece as the sun sets over Surfers Paradise, and enjoy the relaxed environment. Alternatively, try your hand at a game of putt-putt golf with the family, be marvelled at the interactive Ripley’s Believe It or Not, or explore the five-story labyrinth that is Dracula’s Haunted House.


7:30pm – 9pm Dinner

For something special and a unique experience, head to the Benihana Japanese Steak House located in the Marriott Resort & Spa. With a buzzing Gold Coast atmosphere, Benihana promises an entertaining meal, prepared in front of you on a teppan hot plate that’s built into each table. Alternatively, head to the brand new Hilton Surfers Paradise, where you’ll find celebrity chef Luke Mangan’s Salt Bar & Grill. Book early though, as getting a table at this fine-dining restaurant can prove difficult.

9pm – 10pm Walk off dinner with gelato

Finish your evening back in Broadbeach, and take a leisurely stroll back to your apartment having stopped at The Gelato Shop. Having won four QLD Food & Wine Gold Awards and 22 Silver Awards, no Broadbeach stay is complete without a gelato from the popular locals hangout. Try the decadent Ferrero Rocher, Baileys Irish Cream or Lemon Meringue, or make it lighter with a passionfruit or watermelon sorbet.

Day 2

9am – 10am Breakfast at Elk Espresso

Located in Chelsea Avenue, just a ten minute walk from your apartment, you’ll find popular local’s cafe Elk Espresso. Open 6am to 4pm, this charming cafe sells some of the best coffee in Broadbeach, as well as awesome breakfasts and brunches. Try the smashed peas and zucchini on sourdough toast with prosciutto and lemon and dill ricotta.

10am – 12.30pm Beach

You can’t come to the Gold Coast and not spend some time at the beach. With a stunning coastline that stretches more than 80 km’s there’s plenty of beach to choose from, and the Gold Coast offers more patrolled surf areas than any other region in Australia. Broadbeach itself offers one of the finest beaches, and Kurrawa Beach is known as one of the safest beaches on the Gold Coast.

Want to push your boundaries? Why not try a surf lesson with Brad Holmes, one of Broadbeach’s most respected surfing teachers. Brad can also guide you through Tai Chi and Qigong exercises on the beach.


12:30pm – 1.30pm Lunch

With the sand still between your toes, you’ll want to find a nearby place for lunch that’s casual yet delicious. The Gold Coast surf clubs are perfect for this, and Kurrawa Surf Club in particular is the ideal place. Located on one of the world’s most beautiful beaches, Kurrawa Surf Club serves up everything from tasty bar snacks to salads and steaks, and the backdrop is nothing short of breathtaking.

1:30pm – 4pm Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is an iconic Gold Coast attraction, and boasts a wildlife hospital, animal encounters, and informative demonstrations. Housing a massive range of Australian wildlife, you can hand feed kangaroos and emus, watch a crocodile snap his lunch, learn about snakes and lizards, hold a koala, and enjoy the spectacular afternoon feeding of the rainbow lorikeets.

4pm-6pm Take a break

Take the time to put your feet up and re-hydrate in your room. You will definitely have earned it with the amount of walking you’ve done today!

6pm – 10pm Dinner and a show at Jupiters Casino

Following a pre-dinner cocktail in the Casino bar, enjoy a spectacular show at Jupiters Casino, a handy stone’s throw from your apartment. Check the website for their latest shows, and opt for a dinner and show package to enjoy a meal in one of four restaurants.

10pm – 12am Dancing

Not ready to go to sleep yet? Platinum Nightclub is undoubtedly one of the best night clubs on the Gold Coast, and is recognised the world over for it’s A-class DJ’s and great range of guest artists. Over the years they’ve welcomed Block Party, Carl Cox, Roger Sanchez, Paul Van Dyke and more, so you’re guaranteed a memorable end to your night. It’s also conveniently within walking distance from your apartment.
