$5 doesn’t seem to get you much these days, but according to Angie Schiavone in her article for Good Food, it can get you a delicious lunch in Sydney. Here are just a few places you might want to check out the next time you’re on the hunt for a cheap feed:
Vietnamese baguettes – For the $5 mark you can purchase one from Marrickville Pork Roll, King’s Hot Bread on Forest Road, Hurstville and there’s also Vinata’s in Cabramatta.
Sushi – Sushi can vary in price, but there are still plenty of great places to enjoy quality sushi for under $5. The Sushi Hub has branches all over town, and you can get your hands on a soft shell crab hand roll for $3.20, while a salmon and avacado roll will only set you back $2.80. Bargain.
Lebanese pizza – This delicious dish starts at just $1.50 at Charlie’s Pizzeria on Canterbury Road, Canterbury.
Pastries – For delicious Maltese pastries you must visit Newtown’s Pastizzi Cafe where you can pick up these flaky delights for $2.50 a piece.
Hotdogs – If you love hotdogs you have to try one for just $1 at the Soda Factory on a Tuesday night. That’s right, they’re only $1 on a Tuesday! Most certainly an offer too good to pass up.
