5 Tips to Minimise Jetlag on your Sydney Stopover

Friday June 16th, 2017

International travel is a wonderful thing, but the jetlag that can come with it is not so great. Check out these tips to minimising jetlag on your Sydney stopover, and enjoy your journey without the tiredness.

Reset your watch or phone early

While you’re sitting at the airport on the way to Sydney, it’s a good idea to set your watch to the new time zone. The earlier you start mentally adjusting to local time the better, and you’ll have your bearings as soon as you touch down so you can make plans for the day or night ahead. If you arrive before check-in, we offer luggage storage so you can lighten your load and explore the area.

Minimise your local travel time

Whether you’re in town just overnight before flying to a different city or are beginning a month-long holiday in Sydney, the last thing you want to be doing is travelling too far once you’ve picked up your luggage. Hotel-style accommodation in Mascot is the perfect solution: you’ll have all the creature comforts of home with Mascot’s shopping centres and dining options a quick walk away.

Prepare a protein-packed meal

Plane food includes extra sugar and salt to satisfy our high-altitude tastebuds, so one of the best things you can do to beat jetlag is to stay hydrated and enjoy a fresh meal with lots of protein and plant-based food once you arrive at your destination. If you’re booking Sydney airport accommodation for your family, choosing an option with a full kitchen means you can prepare meals to keep to everyone’s normal mealtimes.

Get out and see the sights

Getting plenty of natural sunlight is one sure way to adjust your body clock, and as a side benefit you’ll get to see the best of Sydney’s attractions. Take a leisurely walk to leafy Mascot Memorial Park, or head to Lionel Bowen Park’s colourful playground if you’re travelling with kids. If you have the time to venture further afield, take an easy train or bus journey into the Sydney CBD to visit the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House.

Stay active

If it’s raining outside or you only have an hour free, you won’t need to go far for a workout to keep to your normal routine. Work up a sweat in the fully equipped fitness centre within your building or do a few laps in the indoor heated pool. After a few final minutes in the sauna, you’ll be feeling relaxed for a good night’s sleep that will have you feeling back to normal before you know it. Arriving before check-in? You’re very welcome to use all of our recreational facilities as soon as you arrive.
