A Traveller’s Guide to Christmas on the Gold Coast
Monday December 15th, 2014
If a laid back, Aussie-style Christmas is what you’re after, you’ve chosen to be in the right spot. A Gold Coast Christmas is all about spending time at the beach, with friends on the water, drinking a few beers, and enjoying some delicious seafood. It’s also a city that knows how to party, guaranteeing you some memorable entertainment throughout the season.
Looking for something to do this Christmas? Try one of these festive ideas:
Christmas in Cavill
The spirit of Christmas is well and truly inside Cavill Mall this festive season, with dazzling lights, and a very special Santa perched up in the centre. Riding a surfboard towed by six kangaroos, it’s the perfect symbol of a Gold Coast Christmas. Take along the camera and enjoy free family photos in the sleigh between 12:00pm and 7:00pm daily.
Hire a BBQ boat
The ever popular BBQ boats are great for a day on the water with some yummy food. Carrying up to 10 passengers, they come complete with BBQ, cooler box, and toilet.
Visit a Seafood Market
Charis Seafood is the Gold Coast’s leading seafood supplier, but is slightly out of town in Labrador. For a closer stop, try the Fisherman’s Co-op or Peter’s Fish Market on Seaworld Drive.
