Your Gold Coast Guide to April: Films, Superheroes and More
April 11, 2018
Are you planning a trip to the Gold Coast in the next month or two? You’re in luck, because now’s a great time to experience a few GC-exclusive events. Here are a few of the highlights for April and May.
Gold Coast Film Festival
17 to 29 April, 2018
The Gold Coast Film Festival is a beloved annual institution, and in 2018 there will be over 100 films to choose from as part of the event. On opening night you can watch The Second, a psychological thriller set in regional Queensland, while the festival wraps up on closing night with Brothers’ Nest, a black comedy by Shane and Clayton Jacobson. We also can’t wait to watch Breath by Simon Baker, based on the Tim Winton novel of the same name. There are a number of fascinating industry panels and workshops throughout the festival, some of which have free childminding to help support women thrive in the industry. Home of the Arts will be the location hub for the festival, so look for hotels in Broadbeach QLD for convenient accommodation.
Gold Coast Superhero Weekend
27 to 29 April, 2018
Gather your colourful spandex, because it’s almost time for the Gold Coast Superhero Weekend! This coincides with the Gold Coast Film Festival so you’ll be set to have a busy few days. Must-see events include the Zombie Walk at NightQuarter and the Supanova Comic Con & Gaming, where you could meet Peter Capaldi, Pearl Mackie, John Barrowman, Tom Welling and other celebs of the comic world. Pack your cape too, because the Supanova Superhero Parade early on Sunday the 29th wraps up the weekend with energetic action. For an unforgettable weekend away, look for premium suites on the Gold Coast.
