Mayor of the Gold Coast, Tom Tate, is pushing to expand the Mudgeeraba Show in hopes of making this event as large as the Gold Coast Show. The idea came to Tate after attending the Mudgeeraba Show in July and being impressed by the experience.
Currently, the Mudgeeraba show is a family event marketed as a traditional country show. In contrast, the larger Gold Coast Show is more of a city event. Tate’s plans to scale up the reach and size of the Mudgeeraba Show would make it more of a marquee event on the same level as the Gold Coast Show.
Growing the size of the Mudgeeraba Show would involve expanding the show grounds to accommodate the expansion. Tate is talking of acquiring the land adjacent to the showgrounds for this purpose.
Tate believes that, if developed, the Mudgeeraba Showgrounds could become a landmark event in the coming years.
