Guide to Shopping in Brisbane
22 August 2013
Amanda Kruse was inspired to start her own Brisbane-shopping tour after a fruitless shopping experience during a holiday in Prague. Kruse wanted to provide a day of discovery for out-of-towners who were looking for local spots and a genuine shopping experience without the tourist traps.
Kruse’s three-hour Hidden Gems tour takes visitors to Fortitude Valley, Paddington and Brisbane CBD. Fortitude Valley is known for its eclectic bars and restaurants, while Paddington is filled with second-hand stores, cafes and bookstores.
In Brunswick Street in Fortitude Valley, one can find offbeat fashion pieces and trinkets. Paddington offers a different flavour, with luxurious leafy streets and upmarket boutiques and restaurants.
Highlights include the Paddington Antique Centre, Adornments on Latrobe Terrace, Hamptons Home Living (a café and homewares store in one) and High Maintenance, a nail and hair salon and boutique.
Kruse offers $99 Hidden Gems tours as well as specially tailored shopping tours for individuals or small groups.
