How to Save Money at Theme Parks
13 January 2014
Despite what some people think, a visit to a theme park or a series of theme parks can be a very affordable family vacation. Here are some excellent tips for saving money on your next trip to the Gold Coast.
- Go in the off-season. Many theme parks offer special deals to attract visitors in off season months such as April, May, and June. To make your visit more enjoyable, the lines will be shorter and the crowds will be smaller. Check the park’s website before you book because some attractions are closed for maintenance in the off-season.
- Take advantage of multi-pass tickets. These get you into two or three parks for the price of one. Movie World, Sea World, and Wet ‘n’ Wild currently have a locals VIP pass that gives locals unlimited entry for just $89 until June 2014. DreamWorld, WhiteWaterWorld, and Skypoint have a similar arrangement.
- Purchase tickets ahead of time from the park’s website instead of at the gate. The websites often offer special deals and discounts, such as multi-pass deals that are not available anywhere else. More importantly, you don’t have to stand in line to buy tickets.
- The biggest cost at the average theme park is the concession stand. Limit your spending in the park by bringing a set amount of money and giving each child just a few dollars to spend.
Shopping around and using a little common sense can make a theme park visit a fun and affordable holiday.
