Social media has made it possible for people to stay more connected than ever before from anywhere with an internet connection. Naturally, that’s translated into more connectivity while travelling. Travel + Leisure provided the following tips for using social media.
Social media can provide a wonderful way to supplement travel planning, by getting in touch with critical contacts at destinations in advance. Letting a hotel manager know, for example, that the trip is to celebrate a birthday, honeymoon, or other significant event is a wonderful idea. It can give hospitality venues the opportunity to go above and beyond their regular service.
Once the trip is underway travellers would be advised to set some personal limits on their social media use. There’s a tendency to document everything in as close to real-time as possible. This can take some travellers out of the moment. Snap a quick photo of a sunset, but wait until later to post it.
