New twists on old classics, and some much-loved classics unchanged, are coming up for children in 2014 at the Brisbane Arts Theatre at Petrie Terrace.
Charlotte’s Web (until August 2): When Wilbur the pig discovers how his life will end, his friend Charlotte the spider sets out to save him. This eternal tale of love, death and friendship speaks to adults as well as children.
The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents (September 23 to November 8): Maurice the ingenious cat leads his corps of talking rats through the streets in an entertaining take on The Pied Piper of Hamelin tale. This play has been adapted from the story by Sir Terry Pratchett.
Sulky Santa and the Boy Who Didn’t Believe (November 15-December 21): Santa doesn’t feel like delivering gifts this year, so Rudolph, Snowman and Elfish set out through the Tooth Fairy’s kingdom and the Boogeyman’s lair to discover why. This is a fast-paced and witty family musical.
Children’s tickets start from just $6.50. Families can also buy a membership package which has complimentary season tickets and discounted tickets, free programmes, invitations to Q&A sessions, and free drama festival tickets.
