Sydney’s Newest Restaurants to Watch

According to food writer Scott Bolles, Sydney is in the midst of a restaurant boom that is unlikely to end soon. The latest openings include something for everyone.
In Chippendale, Ester Restaurant and Bar opened last week, behind schedule. Fratelli Fresh is due to open soon in Alexandria, at the site of the old Buckland Hotel and their Risotto Milanese is one of the dishes to look out for.

Franco Franco is set to open in the coming week in Crown Street, at the former site of Caffe Sicilia. The chef is Francesco Armillis, formerly of Lo Studio.

The former site of the Yellow Bistro may become the home of a new French bistro, if the plans by the Bentley Restaurant and Bar crew are realised. Surry Hills’ Emmilou has plans to open Bar Lou Lou on the site of Moog hotel’s old swimming pool.

In the burgers category, Giant Design will be setting up the Batch Burgers & Espresso with an American fitout, at Kirribilli. Giant Design will also be responsible for the design elements of Chow, owned by Chui Lee Luk, which is set to open in Surry Hills within a few months.
