From family-friendly movies in the park to outback adventure and sporting events, cultural celebrations and music tribute shows, there’s plenty to do on the Gold Coast this February. Here’s our pick of some of the best events to hit the vibrant city.
Movies in the Park
From Nerang to Burleigh, and Palm Beach to Ormeau, the City of Gold Coast presents free outdoor movie nights throughout summer, with February seeing four great family movies hit the outdoor screen.

LGBTI Over 50’s Expo and Gathering
The LGBTI Over 50’s Expo and Gathering is the first event of it’s kind, catering especially for older members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans/transgender, and intersex community. The day’s activities include live entertainment from performers such as Diddly Squat, practical workshops, free health checks, competitions, a screening of Gen Silent, and the Amazing Ageing Race.

RACV Ladies Masters
One of Australia’s best known professional golf tournaments, the RACV Ladies Masters showcases the greatest in women’s golf. It will be played at the picturesque and newly renovated RACV Royal Pines Resort. The course has nine new holes to play, and Tiger Woods’ niece Cheyenne Woods has announced she will be defending her 2014 title.

Sand Safari – Australian Sand Sculpting Championships
Be amazed as the Surfer’s Paradise Foreshore is transformed into an enchanted wonderland of Sand Safari’s Disney themed sand sculptures. Each competitor must express in sand what magical friendships mean to them, competing for the title of this year’s champion.

CCS Insurance Solutions Valentine’s Day Race
Enjoy a day at the races with your Valentine and treat them to one of four dining options. Chinese New Year Hot Air Balloon Fiesta
For a unique take on the traditional Chinese lantern, the skies above Gold Coast will celebrate the Chinese New Year with a display of daily hot air balloons. Celebrate the Year of the Sheep by floating over spectacular scenery, and finish with a champagne breakfast at the magnificent O’Reilly’s Vineyard.

Cutback: Surfing Through Art
Explore the alternative aspects of the Australian surf culture with Cutback: Surfing Through Art. Delve through the stereotypes caused by 1950’s and 60’s films such as Blue Hawaii and bands such as The Beach Boys, or enjoy a free art activity with the kids. Themes will also explore depression in surfing and masculine identity issues.

2015 Gold Coast Outdoor Adventure and Motoring Expo
With more than 100 local and regional companies showcasing their latest caravans, camper trailers, 4WD’s, sporting goods and camping gear, the Gold Coast Adventure and Motoring Expo is the region’s largest event of its kind. View and compare products, seek tips from the experts, rub shoulders with TV personalities such as Scott Hillier and fishing guru Dave Moss, or take part in one of the fun competitions.

Chinese New Year Festival
The Chinese New Year Festival 2015 will be the first Gold Coast Chinatown event, marking the new lunar year in the Chinese calendar. Dedicated to showcasing the best of the Gold Coast’s street food traders, multicultural cuisine and entertainment, there will be plenty to see, do, and taste in Chinatown during February.

Join the world’s best surfers as they battle it out at Snapper Rocks, competing in the 2015 ASP World Championship Tour. Watch as surfing stars Gabriel Medina and Stephanie Gilmore hit the high performance waves just metres from the beach.

Elvis – I’ll Remember You
Relive and celebrate the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll in a two-hour intimate concert, starring internationally renowned Mark Anthony. Performed in original Elvis style, Mark Anthony has been officially ranked as one of the five best Elvis impersonators in the world and is officially sanctioned by Elvis Presley Enterprises USA.
