Top Things To Do in Sydney This Festive Season

With lockdowns coming to a gradual end and the festive season at our doorstep, many of us are looking to venture back out and start living life to some degree of normality.

Whether you are a Sydney local or just visiting Australia’s biggest city after a long spell away, we have put together a list of some of the best things you can do in Sydney this festive season.

The Sydney Christmas Fair

If you are looking for a family activity, the Sydney Christmas Fair is a winner. With Elf Workshops, carnival rides and photos with Santa, your kids will have a great time celebrating the festive season.

Plus, with two hours of free parking and plenty of public transport, you will find the fair easy to get to.

With entry fees from $5, head down to the Entertainment Quarter at 122 Lang Road, Moore Park on the 11th to 12th and the 18th-19th to get in with bookings ahead advised.

Woolworths Carols in the Domain

Christmas carols are a favourite around the world and 2021 brings us the 39th year of one of Australia’s most popular shows. Hosting a string of television stars, musicians and radio hosts, Carols in the Domain attracts Sydneysiders and tourists from all over.

Running for one night only, you be best book your tickets in advance as well as a night’s staycation in the city if you’re feeling in the mood!

Darling Harbour Christmas Lights

What would Christmas be without a ludicrous number of coloured lights everywhere in sight? If you are looking for something awe-inspiring but don’t want to spend any money, head down to Sydney’s Darling Harbour to see the stunning display of decorations and attractions.

From ferries wheels, giant baubles, pedal boats and more, this is one of the top things to do in Sydney at this time of year.

Other light-based attractions include the St Mary’s Cathedral Square light display and the Canopy of Light at the Pitt Street Mall.

Choirs in the City

Returning to our musical theme, Sydney’s local choirs will be dotted around various locations in Sydney every day until Christmas Eve. With beautiful harmonies and some Christmas classics, take a look to find when and where your closest performance will be by heading here.

The Rocks Christmas Markets

No Christmas is complete without a Christmas Market and The Rocks Christmas Market helps bring the festive season home. Buzzing with energy, browse the huge and varied range of local artisans, gifts, live music and street food among the 70+ stalls that are appearing this year.

If you are having a little trouble getting in the Christmas Spirit this year, a visit to The Rocks Christmas market should bring out the festive cheer in everyone.

Christmas Under the Sea

Sydney’s SeaLife aquarium is a great place to visit at the best of times, but this Christmas you can experience a Christmas feast in the most unusual way you will probably ever experience.

Enjoy a three-course meal with your friends and family while surrounded by all your favourite marine animals in most of the most unique Christmas experiences Sydney has to offer.

As Australia’s biggest city, the events listed above make up only a small part of everything you can do this Christmas.
