Australia’s World Class Restaurants in Sydney & Brisbane

Australia’s World Class Restaurants in Sydney & Brisbane

20 August 2014

Seeking a fine dining experience of world class quality? The good news is that you won’t have to pack your bags and jetset halfway across the world to experience the world’s best restaurants. Sydney and Melbourne are packed to bursting point with a stunning selection of five star restaurants. Here is a well-whittled sample of only the best:

1. Marque

Found on Crown Street in Surry Hills, because where else? Marque boasts a five course menu available Monday through Thursday at $120 per person. If the reviews are right, then the price tag is well worth it.

2. Tetsuya’s

Traditional Japanese cuisine found in the middle of an urban jungle. Tetsuya’s is infamous for their ten course degustation menu – you will definitely need to make a booking in advance.

3. Quay

With some of the most breathtaking views of Sydney Harbour, Quay can be found in The Rocks. The perfect place to take someone who is visiting the city, Quay is known for what can only be described as edible art.

4. Momofuku Seiōbo

Another gem to be found on the water, Momofuku Seiōbo calls Pyrmont home. Located off a food court with no windows in sight, this restaurant more than makes up for its questionable location with a delectable degustation menu.

5. Sepia

Hitting the Sydney restaurant scene just five years ago, Sepia is a joint collaboration between De Costi Seafoods’ George Costi and Sydney chef Martin Benn. Expect quality, creativity, and an entrepreneurial spirit.

6. Rockpool

Rockpool is one of the most enviable restaurant groups in Australia, with locations across Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. In Sydney there is a choice between Rockpool, Spice Temple and Rockpool Bar & Grill. More on that last one later…

7. est.

Located on the level above Establishment Hotel, est. serves lunch and dinner, overseen by Head Chef Peter Doyle. Location, location, location is key here.

8. Rockpool Bar & Grill

Back to the Rockpool group, and for good reason. Rockpool Bar & Grill offers an extensive range of affordable options, from cold starters right through to wood-fired grills. Perfect for a quick lunch bite or longer dinner with friends.

9. The Bridge Room

Critical acclaim is just one of the many highlights of The Bridge Room’s dining experience. Need we say more? You can find it down at Circular Quay on the corner of Bridge and Young.

10. Porteño

If you haven’t yet had a chance to try Argentine cuisine, put it off no longer. Porteño has an extensive yet affordable menu; everything is braised, raised, and served to you fresh from the kitchen. Traipse down to Cleveland Street in Surry Hills and see for yourself.

1. Aria

Overlooking the stunning Brisbane River, Aria provides the ultimate Brisbane dining experience. Perfect for visitors and locals alike, the menu features fresh, seasonal Australian produce.

2. Esquire

One of the most contemporary restaurants in the city, Esquire continues to push the boundaries of the modern dining experience. An incomparable experience if there ever was one.

3. Urbane

The name says it all. This restaurant manages to sneak five different dining types in between its walls, with everything from casual bistro to full degustation. It’s perfect no matter what kind of mood you’re in.

4. Gerard’s Bistro

With a casual setting, a menu with plenty of vegetarian options and a wine list to whet any would-be connoisseur’s appetite, Gerard’s Bistro is the perfect place for the modern diner.

5. The Euro

Welcome to the other half of Urbane. Located in the same building in a shared space, these two restaurants just feed off each other’s atmospheres. The more casual partner is all about the mains and sides and desserts if you feel like it. No pressure here.

6. Stokehouse

Stylish but casual is the name of the game. Yet another contemporary experience, the part you really shouldn’t miss is the cocktail bar. It’s to die for.

7. Tartufo

This classic Italian restaurant is a family affair. Wisdom passed through generations – you fill in the rest.

8. Bacchus

Perfect for the socialite who enjoys some of the finer things in life. Bacchus serves an enviable high tea, cocktails and tapas galore, as well as full degustation.

9. 1889 Enoteca

Offering both a wine store and a restaurant, 1889 Enoteca brings Roman food into the 21st Century without batting an eyelid. Must be all that Italian wine…

10. Malt Dining

Offering an intimate atmosphere over which to enjoy your modern dining experience, Malt Dining is located in the iconic Wenley House. Popular for weddings and other events, don’t let this one pass you by.
