While the Americans have been celebrating Halloween for years, it now seems that Australia is trying hard to catch up with a range of events planned for this Halloween on the Gold Coast. From freaky horror shows to eerie dance parties, there’s all kinds of spooky goings-on planned for this All Hallows Eve, so if you’re looking for somewhere to let your hair down here’s the lowdown on 10 terrifyingly good Halloween parties for both young and old alike.
Kids love Halloween, but if you don’t like the idea of them traipsing from door to door there’s plenty of kid-friendly Halloween fun to be had on the Gold Coast this year.
Halloween at Southport Yacht Club
If you’d prefer that your kids don’t go trick or treating at Halloween but you’d like them to experience a little ghostly fun, Southport Yacht Club have just the thing. They’re putting on a spooky party complete with face painting, lollies, and all kinds of fun activities for the kids.
Halloween Family Night at Southport Sharks
Staying with family entertainment, Southport Sharks are planning a spooky spectacular complete with scary face painting, a prize for the best dressed ghoul and, best of all, a visit from Mr. Sharky himself. There’s a buffet to keep appetites at bay, and a couple of hours of entertainment for the kids followed by the Zookeeper’s live Halloween show.
Trick or treating at Westfield Helensvale
For guaranteed goodies, there’s no easier way to go trick or treating than to head to Westfield Helensvale. Here you’ll l be treated to an afternoon of free trick or treating, plus a best dressed competition to boot. Just head to the concierge desk for a trick or treating map, and then spread out into the grounds and follow the clues. The fun starts at 4.00pm. Be sure to come dressed up and ready to have fun.
Halloween Day of the Dead Party at Burleigh Brewing
Local food company Siguenos have teamed up with the Burleigh Brewing Company to host an event that you’re unlikely to forget. Live music from Armitage, beer, tacos, and did we mention beer? Running from 5pm until 8:30pm, you can bring the kids along to the Brewhouse Bar to join in the fun too.
Halloween party at Absynthe
Enjoy Halloween with your family at Absynthe. There’s going to be themed decor, lots of finger food, and a PG-rated scary movie on the big screen. Plus there’s prizes for the best outfits and a treasure hunt to complete this evening of scary entertainment. The fun starts at 7pm at the Abysnthe restaurant and bar in Surfers Paradise.
Stingray Halloween Party
Fancy dress is definitely not optional at this popular party. Whether you’re planning to dress up as a character from your favourite scary movie, or you’ve something a little more bewitching in mind, you’ll find it’s a great opportunity to dance the night away, sip some witches brew, and sample some of the hot-as-hell dishes on offer. The party starts at 6pm and goes on til well beyond the witching hour.
The Island of Sin Party Boat
The ultimate in Halloween parties, The Island of Sin Party Boat is not for the fainthearted. Departing from Marina Mirage, you’ll mix with ghouls, zombies, vampires, ghosts and other creatures of ill repute as you’re ferried to a tropical island just in time to carry on the party. You’ll get to sing, dance and have fun with 20 international, national and local DJs, while there’s drink and food aplenty available on board. There’s also a VIP area on the island, complete with lingerie waitresses, topless waiters and a private VIP bar. The party boat departs at 11am on Saturday, 31st October, so it’s a great way to continue the party from the night before!
If you’ve always fancied spending the night in a haunted house, head to Escape for a fun-filled Halloween party on Saturday 25th October. There you’ll find Deejay Lorenzo, DJ Ctrl+Z and DJ Boss among the cobwebs blasting out the best tracks.
Zombies wanted for a Wicked Club Crawl
